Car Auctions, Good Deals Abound!

[ad_1]

Car auctions are getting popular day by day and without doubt will continue to be a major tool in the coming days. Auctions have always been one of the tools to sell a variety of things. Today it is being used with renewed vigor. Even in car sales it is no different. However, if you are planning to attend a car auction for the first time, here are few tips and guidelines that you must certainly know. There are very good chances that you could make a few mistakes. Forewarned is fore armed and knowledge is power. With knowledge, you should be ok at your first auction.
The process in the normal car sale goes on like this

1. Look at the classifieds in the local paper.
2. Drive over to the seller’s house
3. View the car
4. Negotiate the price from an asking price
5. Try and bring the seller down to the price you want the car at.

There are numerous advantages with this way. You can do it at your own sweet time, take a test drive of the car. You can even think for sometime on how much you want to pay and you can always walk off if the deal does not suit you.
But a Car auction is totally a different experience altogether and this alone is the reason that puts off a lot of people. If you are armed with some knowledge of how to do and what to do, you can ensure things go your way.
While we assume that you are a first time auction visitor, it would not do any harm if you are an experienced auction visitor and it won’t do any harm, just to glance through the advice handed out.
Check out for the following points as well as some general rules.

1. Look out for any display that will tell you about the condition of the cars that are on auction. It should display conditions of the sale of the cars.

2. What you see is what you get. Vehicles that are offered for sale in WYSIWYG cannot be rejected under any circumstances. Under this condition, if the car does have any problems, any complaint regarding the same simply might not be entertained. Though this sounds stringent, it shouldn’t put you off.

3. Sale with test drive: This usually means you have the option of returning the car if you find any major mechanical problems with Engine, gear box, axles or steering rack etc… The conditions vary from auction to auction though. So check up with the auctioneers

4. Look for hidden charges like Buyers premium
There are normally charges like a buyer’s premium in a car auction. This is apart from the auction price. Also the fees vary from auction to auction. Make sure that you have all the details about the charges. Ensure that the fees include charges for transferring the legal title into your name. Also check at the car auction if

a) The car has any outstanding finance on it.
b) Car is on the police stolen list.
c) Car has ever been an insurance ‘total loss’.
d) The car has had a number plate transfer.

An Insider Look At Auto Dealerships

[ad_1]

Going to a car dealer to buy a car is a scary experience for some and angry one for others. If you know a little more about the inner workings and structure of the average car dealership you will be less likely to be so apprehensive and you will be equipped to know what to look out for and what to expect.

Like any other business a car dealership has its own little hierarchy and pecking order starting with the salespeople who often come and go weekly due to the stress of twelve hour work days and pressure over sales quotas to the sales managers who are like the ringmasters in a three ring circus cracking the whip on the salespeople. Then we have the general managers who manage the entire operation and watch over the money flow coming in from every department.

If you are older you can probably remember dealers throwing your car keys on the roof of the dealership, cars with no window stickers and going to used car lots where they had rolled back the miles on the cars. In the 1960’s laws were passed that make these practices illegal, it doesn’t mean they don’t still happen. It is now mandatory to have the window sticker on a new car and all used cars must have an “As Is” sticker in it or the dealer my be subject to a huge fine.

With salespeople you are basically dealing with three different types. Some dealerships have the old guys that have been selling cars for 50 years when the price was whatever they wanted to sell the car for. If they have stayed in the car business this long they have evolved and are usually more professional and have a large stream of repeat business.
Next you will have the young newcomers or “green peas” as they are often called who are like a cat in waiting to pounce on the next person who arrives at the dealership. These salespeople tend to come and go quickly. Next, many dealerships will have some military people usually retired who are taking up the car business for extra income. You also see many dealers hiring more and more women now.

What usually happens when you come to a dealership is that they have someone who watches the lot and they mark down the salesperson’s name and a description of you so they can make sure they keep track of what is going on. The dealers want the salesperson to control the sale and bring you inside before you leave. Indeed there are many dealers who will tell the salesperson that if they do not bring the prospect in to the dealership and allow a manager to speak to them that they will be fired.

Now you know why some of the salespeople you have tried to escape from were so scared!

Car salvage– The perfect way to sell dilapidated cars

[ad_1]

There is this friend of mine facing a problem that is causing him many a sleepless night. It is to do with his car; the car in question has been with the family for a long time. It has served well for many years and as of now, it has started showing signs of aging. The gears do not work properly and the engine takes a lot of time starting every day. After a lot of deliberation, my friend realised the futility of keeping the vehicle with him. He surveyed all the different options available and decided on car salvage.

What my friend did was nothing exceptional. A lot of car owners in different parts of the world are also disposing their salvage cars in scrap yards and getting paid for the same. This act is beneficial to different categories of people  – albeit in different ways. First and foremost, the scrap cars or salvage cars are disassembled and that too without polluting the environment in any way. Secondly, the salvage car owners are paid their due depending upon the condition of their scrap cars. Also, the spare parts and auto parts that are in working condition are separated from old and dilapidated salvage cars and refurbished to be sold later on.

While helping my friend in the process, I too discovered several facts about car salvage and scrap yards . Many of these entities offer tow away services so that you do not need to bring your battered car to the area where it is to be dismantled. The best junk yards are those that come with the proper licenses and work according to the local law of the land. In the UK, to take a specific case in point, the scrap yards need to follow a well laid out process when it comes to dismantling used cars. The scrap cars are disassembled without effecting the environment in a harmful manner. People in the UK would be better of by selecting authorised treatment facilities having valid licenses for transfer of wastes, when it comes to selling their scrap cars.

There are quite a few scrap yards in different parts of the world that have a web presence and come with vehicle collection service. As car owners, you can approach them for car salvage, vans, or vehicles that have been damaged in accidents. Typically, you would have to fill in certain details pertaining to the vehicles that you are bringing in for sale. The price is then negotiated upon and once a consensus is reached on this, the scrap yards would make arrangements to collect the vehicle in question.

So, all you people out there who are burdened with old and worn out cars and do not know what to do, now have help at hand. You can approach a scrap yard that is located where you live and sell your car to these people after of course checking out their credentials. To know more about auto salvage, scrap car removal, and other services delivered by scrap yards, you can visit sellusyourcar.

Where To Find A Free Online Car Auction

[ad_1]

Unbelievably there are literally hundreds of free sites that can help you to either sell or buy your car. Some of the websites are in fact free to the buyers as only the sellers are asked to pay advertising fees or a percentage of the sales value of the vehicles sold. Other sites are in fact free for the seller as there are no advertising fees and the buyer pays the site’s commissions (if any). It will be a challenge to find a completely free online car auction and this is normal – these sites should make a profit too.

Here are some of the most popular – this should cut the time required to research and get you straight to the point.

eBay is probably the most popular online auction on the Internet and it is highly recommended online car auction as well. However if you are specifically looking for a eBay is not what you are seeking. There are some fees you will be asked to pay in case you are selling your car at eBay. On the other hand, the car buyers are in perfect position, as there are no costs involved in the buying process.

Collectors Car Auction (collectorscarauction.com) is a auction site that operates in Canada, USA, UK and Australia. All you need to do in order to put your car at an auction is to register. Most of the advertising features are free. The ones that will ensure enhanced placement of your ad are paid but the fees are neglectable.

Auction Fire (auctionfire.com) is another very popular auction website. You can find a variety of car brands put on sale as well as motor parts and auto accessories. There is no advertising fee to get your car listed. The only fee that the site charges is 2.5% commission against the final sale price paid by the buyer. So in fact, this is a free online car auction excellent for car sellers. The site supports multi languages, which is a great benefit for auction car sellers as the site attracts more potential buyers.

There are a lot more than the three sites mentioned above. Just do a simple search and you will find thousands of auction sites. However, check all terms and conditions of each specific site you are about to use. Sometimes the services are advertised as free but there are hidden costs. It is best to go at a well-known and approved site and pay some fees than trying to save a few bucks and attend unreliable “free” online car auction sites.

Chrysler Says Bye Daimler and Leaves it With $2 Billion First Quarter Loss

[ad_1]

Daimler: Sorry dear Chrysler but this is it. I have sold you to the three headed dog Cerberus.
Chrysler: Its ok, Daimler dear I perfectly understand…and by the way would you be so sweet and take care of my $2 billion first-quarter loss?
Daimler: Ok dear but remember I have the good end of the deal, ok?
Chrysler: Of course dear…

The sale of Chrysler has ended up like a comedy skit. Reports have cited that CEO Zetsche is saddened by the split of DaimlerChrysler, saying that the Auburn Hills automaker did also contribute to Daimler and was not always reporting losses. But with the present $2 billion first quarter loss that Chrysler has reported, will CEO Zetsche still think better of Chrysler?

Despite the loss that Chrysler has again incurred it is still very positive that it will be able to break-even for the rest of the year. It can be noted that Chrysler has previously reported a $1.2 billion resulting from the restructuring program that the automaker is implementing. The said loss was reported last February 14, the very same day that CEO Zetsche has announced that Chrysler is up for sale.

DaimlerChrysler Chief Financial Officer Bodo Uebber has forecasted a $2.1 billion full-year loss for Chrysler that is before interest and taxes. The forecast was announced during a teleconference with reporters and financial analysts. However analysts have a different view and considered the forecast stating a big improvement in Chrysler’s earnings in the current quarter as well as the second half of the 2007 as too much to expect.

As a matter of fact, according to New-York based analysts Brad Rubin at investment bank BNP-Paribas, “I think that’s overly optimistic. I think it’s going to be very difficult.”

It is no secret that Chrysler is depending on the rollout of new vehicles to increase its sales. To start off its recovery plan it has launched recently the Dodge Avenger sedan and will be introducing new minivans by fall.

Despite the first quarter losses that Chrysler has obtain, DaimlerChrysler’s net profit for January through March have double to $2.6 billion which simply shows a turnaround of its reviving Mercedes-Benz luxury car-making division not to mention the additional earnings that DaimlerChrysler gets from its holding in the aerospace company EADS.

Uebber said that company’s earnings for 2007 would be slightly above $9 billion that is before interest and taxes however the yearly net profit would still be undercut by costs related to Chrysler sale. And estimating those costs it will probably reach between $4 billion and $5 billion.

DaimlerChrysler the producer of top of the line Mercedes 240D parts has also announced that it will be selling an 80.1 percent stake in Chrysler’s industrial and financial operations to Cerberus Capital Management for $7.4 billion which will mostly go into Chrysler’s operations. The deal is expected to end in the third quarter.

Will Chrysler gain any benefits from the sale? Chrysler as a would-be privately owned business will be shielded from the impatience of the financial markets and on their focus on short-term results. But according to CEO Tom LaSorda despite the new benefits and advantages that Chrysler will obtain from its new owner, the company would still strive hard to improve its performance.

Chrysler has reported first quarter loss before interest and taxes compares with a $857 profit for the January-March quarter of 2006, before the continuously increasing gas prices began affecting the demand for its vehicles. Sadly for Chrysler that trend has continued in the quarter just ended resulting to an 8 percent decline in the sales of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles.

What Paperwork Do I Need When Selling My Car

[ad_1]

You finally found a buyer to take over the possession of your car, you came up with a deal that matches your financial goals, and the buyer’s targeted budget. You now have to make sure that you fulfill the legal requirements enforced by the state and city officials, you also need to make sure that the liability is also turned over, and that you will not be liable for the buyers engagement in and accidents, moving and non moving violations.

The fine details vary by state; however, this should equip you with a road map to use. Check with the local department of Motor Vehicles for the specific details. Write up a bill of sale that includes the vehicle identification number, a description of the car, and the financial details. Sign the title over to the buyer. Even if your state doesn’t require the title to be notarized, sign it over along with the bil of sale before a public notary service, and keep a photocopy of the signed title for future records.

Now that both you and the buyer are aware of the ownership is transferred you should be aware that there is still uncertainty with the liability transfer. The safest practice to follow is providing copies of the bill of sale and the signed copy of the title to your local motor vehicle department. Taking this extra step will ensure the transfer of liability even if the buyer takes longer than promised to re-title and re-register the car.

On a concluding note, I am not by any mean an expert in the rules and regulation of every state nationwide, however this is just like I mentioned earlier is a road map, and you should contact your authorities to ensure that the requirements are completely fulfilled.
