How to Get Cheap Truck Bed Liners The Easy Way

[ad_1]

Finding heap truck bed liners may be easier than you think.  Applying a do it yourself bed liner is one of the best ways.  That gets you a cheap bed liner that makes your truck look better, protects the bed and it’s easy to do.  Here’s how to do it…

We just coated our old pickup’s bed with bed liner paint and it looks almost like new.  It really looks just about like an expensive spray on liner.  We just used a roller to put the coating on.  You can spray it on if you like, but it’s really not necessary.  See the paint is very thick.  That’s why it goes on so easy.

That thick paint includes rubber pieces.  That gives it the texture much like a spray on liner.  It also makes it very easy to put on.  It goes on almost like a paste and covers all kinds of rough places on your bed.  Then when the liner paint dries, all the roller marks or even brush marks just even out perfectly.

A coat or two of paint also helps protect your truck bed.  It’s a great way to stop corrosion and prevent more damage in the future.  Here’s how a do it yourself bed liner differs from a professional liner.  Your coating isn’t nearly as thick.  The professional liner is up to about 1/4 inch thick.  You can’t put bed liner paint on nearly that thick so you don’t get as much protection.  That’s the trade-off to save big money.

Putting truck bed paint on is as easy as could be.  The hard part is getting ready to put the paint on.  You must sand the truck bed and get the finish really rough with an abrasive pad.  That’s the key to a coating that really sticks.  Preparation for painting isn’t hard.  It just takes some time.

Cheap truck bed liners also include rubber liners and carpet liners too.  There’s more than  one way to get a liner for a little money.

Make Money With Your Classic Car, Old Truck or Hot Rod

[ad_1]

Classic Trucks in the movies and starring in TV Commercials!

Owners of old trucks would never deny permission for somebody to take a picture of their vehicle. Do you want to take a picture of my truck? Go ahead. Next time don’t even ask!

Let’s suppose somebody came up to you and asked for permission to take a picture of your classic truck to publish in a magazine or a website. Would you refuse? Of course not. You’re proud of your truck and you want the whole world to see it.

But there are people who don’t want to have their classic trucks photographed or filmed. They spend a lot of time fixing their trucks, they go to car shows to show off what they have and yet they refuse to have their trucks filmed or photographed. It doesn’t make sense and it’s not very smart either. Maybe they don’t need the money…

Now let’s suppose you had a chance of having your truck filmed for a TV commercial or, better yet, for a movie! How great would that be? Let’s also suppose that some TV producer decided to create a new series based on the 1940’s, 1950’s or 1960’s. Wouldn’t he(she) need a lot of cars from those eras? And if the series became a hit the vehicles would be used again and again.

Yeah. It it possible and it’s not even too hard. You just have to promote your vehicle in the right places. There are companies out there looking for vehicles exactly like yours. Many companies in fact. They look for classic trucks for sale and they buy them. They look for classic cars of all types and they pay rent to the car owners in order to film the cars. There are companies that go after owners of classic cars, old trucks and hot rods in order to list these vehicles in large databases. Advertising agencies put ads in the papers when they need an old car or pickup truck for a TV commercial. Keep your eyes open because your big chance may come from that direction.

If you have a good set of pictures of your little jewel you’re one step closer to fame and fortune. Well, may be not fortune but fame is possible…

A movie production company may need classic trucks just like yours. They might need your truck to spend, say, three days in Hollywood and a week on location in New York. They would make the arrangements to have the vehicle transported to both places and might even be willing to pay for your expenses to go along. You would see how a movie is made and you could even end up meeting a couple of famous movie stars just because you own an antique truck.

The producer of a movie or a TV commercial may be looking for a beautifully restored old car, one that looks like it came out of the showroom a couple of days ago. But directors want their films to look real. Therefore they may need a regular classic vehicle, one that shows it’s been used. And they might even need a real wreck, a rust bucket so to speak. Your chances are real, no matter what condition your truck is in. Don’t be ashamed of it. Go ahead and try.

And how does this thing work? First you have to find an agent, a company that has the contacts and knows where to go with your truck pictures. Get listed on their databases and be patient. You might get a call the following morning but it could also take a couple of years.

Here are a few suggestions of sites you can visit to learn more about this:

MovieVehicles.com

OldCarLocator.com

Cornwell & Sheridan Motor Cars

TVParty.com

Classic-Chassis.com

If you’re really committed to the idea of having your vehicle on a movie or a TV commercial you may do what actors do. Have a professional photographer take a series of shots of the vehicle and send them to advertising agencies or talent agencies. Or have a nice video produced, send it to talent agencies and upload it to YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video and so on. Even wedding planners may be interested in your old truck or classic car. Promote it well and one day you’ll get your big break.

And here’s another very important thing to keep in mind: don’t hide your prized possession in your garage. Take it to shows, go to swap meets and take your chances at show prizes. You may win a simple trophy and you may also get some prize money. But you’ll have to make sure your truck is in show condition before you do that. Nobody will allow you enter your classic car or old truck in a car show if the car or truck is not worth showing. Movies and TV commercials might look for regular old trucks or classic cars, but car shows don’t. Car shows want the cream of the crop, so to speak.

All of this is true all over the world. Movies are made everywhere these days and so are TV commercials. Classic car and old truck shows are common in almost every country and you can take advantage of that to make money with your truck or classic car.

Money? With old trucks and classic cars? Yep. It’s possible mainly because nobody is making trucks like yours anymore.

The Top 5 Tips For Buying A Commercial Truck

[ad_1]

When your business relies on heavy-duty trucks for important daily functions, a vehicle purchase is a valuable investment. It is critical to optimize the efficiency of your vehicle expense by carefully weighing this decision in advance. For the benefit of the entrepreneur, the top 5 tips for buying commercial trucks have been provided.

1. Evaluate the Type of Commercial Truck That Your Company Needs

You will be in the best position to negotiate when you understand the full range of vehicles that can satisfy your company’s needs. For example, several different trucks can handle various towing responsibilities with the help of powerful engines and trailers. There is a substantial difference between a small pickup truck and the boutique vehicles used for garbage collection. If you are hauling equipment for landscaping, it is important to make sure that your commercial truck has the necessary towing power to do the job. Choose a truck that can easily handle today’s responsibilities. However, tomorrow’s growth should be considered as well. Anticipate future needs to get the maximum utility out of your investment.

2. Create a Budget Before Visiting a Dealership

Today’s economy swings wildly based on credit markets and currency values. Savvy businessmen accomplish more for the consumer with a smaller capital investment. When you stick to a careful budget, you can feel confident that your commercial truck purchase won’t cripple your business model.

3. Choose Newer Vehicles

Older vehicles rarely feature warranties. When you are purchasing a commercial truck, reliability is very important. Unexpected repairs can do serious damage to your bottom line. You are less likely to face problems with vehicles manufactured in the past five years. Also, warranties can be purchased to limit your risk of being sidelined by expensive repairs.

4. Consider Fuel Efficiency

Gasoline and diesel prices are difficult to predict. However, you can assume that they will probably be somewhat expensive. The best way to mitigate these costs is to select a vehicle with excellent fuel economy. The smallest change in gas mileage can make a huge difference over years of use.

5. Ask to See Service Records

When buying a used vehicle, it is important to see how it was treated in the past. Heavy-duty trucks are capable of some impressive feats. However, the previous owner’s actions can dramatically affect the condition of the vehicle. Ask to see all service records when purchasing a commercial truck.

Kentucky – where custom trucks are born!

Kentucky – where custom trucks are born!

[ad_1]

And there weren’t just singular trucks at this show, many clubs rolled in, setting up elaborate displays and staking their claim on the valuable show grounds. Freaks of Nature had a great lineup of red trucks in attendance, and Vaperz had at least 17 trucks there. Imagine that caravan driving down the Interstate…

But staring at custom pickup trucks and SUVs wasn’t the only thing to do. Sunday’s bikini contest offered a hefty prize for the winning female, trucks were roaring down the drag strip (anyone see that 10-sec diesel?!?!), and a group of knuckleheads were jumpstarting the 2008 Darwin awards with sketchy golf kart antics.

All in all, our Stylin’ Staffers gave the show three thumbs up. See you next year!

Impress Your Friends With Random And Fun Used Car Facts

[ad_1]

Miscellaneous used car facts are rarely of any practical use, but are a lot of fun when you start to ponder the implications of what each factoid means. Best of all, your friends will be impressed when you know these facts and have already given them some thought! Consider this for example:

Automatic transmissions outnumber manual 10 to 1 in the market for used vehicles
If this number was measured 25 years ago, I am sure the number would have been much different – probably leaning towards more manual (stick shift) transmissions than automatic transmissions. Does this means manual transmissions will soon be one of those, “I remember when…,” things? Sports cars, and I mean really fast ones, are even starting to use automatic transmission because some automatic transmissions are faster than their manual counterparts. I think the writing is on the wall for manual transmissions.

Here is a collection of other random and fun facts for you to ponder by yourself or with your friends:

1. Three out of four automotive transactions in the U.S. involve previously owned vehicles.

2. The average vehicle will likely have three owners in its lifetime.

3. Industry experts believe one of every 25 air bags that have been deployed have not been properly replaced. They’re also the most stolen item from a vehicle (having surpassed radios). AOL Autos: Best resale value cars

4. About half the cars that are flood damaged end up back on the road. As far as Hurricane Katrina is concerned, estimates are that about 200,000 vehicles were dried out and resold.

5. The most frequently searched price range for a used vehicle is under $5,000.

6. Consumers lose as much as $4 billion a year due to odometer fraud, with the average rollback being 15,000 miles.

7. There are more used Silverado pickup trucks for sale than any other model (nearly 120,000 throughout the U.S.)

8. Texas has more used vehicles than any other state (more than 220,000); Houston alone has more than 32,000 on the market at any given time.

9. Chevrolet tops the list of most-available brands in the U.S. (with about 450,000 available), followed by Ford (425,000). There are “only” about 280,000 Toyotas on the market at any given time.

10. Silver is the most available color in the used vehicle market — more than 447,000 vehicles, followed by black (429,000), white (409,000), and red (321,000). Blue (309,000) and gray (277,000) are also aplenty. The color you’re least likely to find? Pink.

11. Age does appear to matter, at least when it comes to a used vehicle. Nearly half those listed at any one time (about 1.5 million) are model years 2007-2008.

12. Six cylinder vehicles are the most popular on the used car market, accounting for nearly a third of the total available (and roughly the combined total of both four cylinder and eight cylinder powered vehicles).

13. The least likely number of engine cylinders? The 23 vehicles that were listed as being equipped with a 16-cylinder motor, among them a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur (just $122,000) and a 1938 Cadillac ($195,000).

14. Nearly half the used cars on the market come with air conditioning.

This list was originally published here (http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/09/19/aa.used.car.fun.facts/index.html). Share some of your own random and fun used (or new) car auto facts.
