Finding heap truck bed liners may be easier than you think.  Applying a do it yourself bed liner is one of the best ways.  That gets you a cheap bed liner that makes your truck look better, protects the bed and it’s easy to do.  Here’s how to do it…

We just coated our old pickup’s bed with bed liner paint and it looks almost like new.  It really looks just about like an expensive spray on liner.  We just used a roller to put the coating on.  You can spray it on if you like, but it’s really not necessary.  See the paint is very thick.  That’s why it goes on so easy.

That thick paint includes rubber pieces.  That gives it the texture much like a spray on liner.  It also makes it very easy to put on.  It goes on almost like a paste and covers all kinds of rough places on your bed.  Then when the liner paint dries, all the roller marks or even brush marks just even out perfectly.

A coat or two of paint also helps protect your truck bed.  It’s a great way to stop corrosion and prevent more damage in the future.  Here’s how a do it yourself bed liner differs from a professional liner.  Your coating isn’t nearly as thick.  The professional liner is up to about 1/4 inch thick.  You can’t put bed liner paint on nearly that thick so you don’t get as much protection.  That’s the trade-off to save big money.

Putting truck bed paint on is as easy as could be.  The hard part is getting ready to put the paint on.  You must sand the truck bed and get the finish really rough with an abrasive pad.  That’s the key to a coating that really sticks.  Preparation for painting isn’t hard.  It just takes some time.

Cheap truck bed liners also include rubber liners and carpet liners too.  There’s more than  one way to get a liner for a little money.

Mike Tredway of Lebanon, Missouri has spent the better part of his life as an over the road truck driver. He knows the highways and back roads of our great United States and Canada like the back of his hand. Whats more so, is that he also spent many years working on these big rigs and then later he began rebuilding cars and trucks that had been wrecked.

One look at Mike, and 10 minutes into any conversation with him, you will immediately peg him as a trucker. His real passion, however, is building Peterbilt Pick-Up Trucks. Meshing together the chassis of full size pick up trucks such as Cheverolet,Dodge,Ford and GMC with the bigger dogs such as Peterbilt,Freightliner,Mack, etc., is the perfect blend for Mike. His experience and love for trucks, big and small has helped to create a true work of art.

Where does one start when contemplating such a task as building a “little big truck?” The chassis is the first place to start. Mike can start with a regular chassis, super-duty or what ever and add the motor of your choice, suspension, transmission and most importantly…the cab of what ever big rig you choose.

The first truck he built, he didn’t cut down any on the size of the cab. The finished product was beautiful but the lines of the body didn’t suit him. It was too obvious that it was two different vehicles put together to make one.

Mike is somewhat of a perfectionist, and realizing how this truck looked just didn’t set well with him. He decided there would have to be some subtle modifications made to the cabs of the big trucks in order for them to match the lines of the pick up truck beds/wheel wells, etc.

Since that first inseption, he has grown and developed his process of building Peterbilt Pick-Up Trucks to the point that they look like they could have been built in Detroit. But one closer look to the custom interiors, paint jobs, wheels, stacks and his favorite 502 Crate Motor, and you can see there is nothing ordinary about these pick up trucks.

Each pick up truck that is built starts with an indepth conversation with the potential buyer. Mike likes to get to know the customer so their wants, dreams and desires regarding their Peterbilt Pick Up Truck can be incorporated into the build to make it truly a custom, one of a kind rig.

Contact is usually made via e-mail over the internet after someone has visited his internet site. There you can see pictures of the first one built. It of course was the very first one befor he decided the lines didn’t fit just right.

Mike then likes to meet (if possible) with the customer and goes over things like weather they want a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge chassis. Then they discuss the size of the engine, transmission, suspension, etc. After that a price quote is given to the customer and half is due at the time of order with the balance due in full upon delivery.

The pride and care that goes into these Peterbilt Pick-Up Trucks shows up in his shop as well. The 40X80 shop is almost as spotless as what you see on TV watching someone like Boyd Cottington. He is very organized and detail oriented. It’s just himself and his son that built these rigs so it takes about 160 days from start to finish and I can guarantee you he knows where every wrench, nut, bolt, screw,jack and lug nut is at in his shop.

This little shop is probably one of the best kept secrets in his community. Peterbilt Pick-Up Trucks are a custom and very unique vehicle which is also why they are considered a high end luxury vehicle. Not everyone can afford them. Which is probably a good thing because if everyone could, Mike would never get a break to rest.

Now as far as a fiberglass kit is conserned…need I say more? You get what you pay for. Even though I’m a car kind of lady, I want one of these Peterbilt Pick-Up Trucks.

The All New Nissan Navarra

Nissan is the pioneer in creating firsts of the first compact pickup trucks in the market. They will start something, others will follow. Some of their notable creations were the first extended cab body style seen in the 1979 Nissan King Cab and the first crew cab body style compact pickup in the D22 series.

Nissan Frontier, also Nissan Navara, is the most popular term for the D22 series by Nissan, together with the D40 generations. These are mostly sold in North, Central and South America and in the Philippines. It was first introduced in 1997 and still out in the market, under two series, namely the D22 and D40. The Nissan Navara is the first in most Asian countries to have a six speed manual transmission for a pickup truck. Such technology can give more mileage to the Frontier owner.

Compared to older versions of pickup trucks, the Nissan Navara is equipped with better suspension and shock absorbers to ensure comfort and luxury while on the road. It will also have a new headlamp design with distinctive projector styling and a new set of 16-inch (steel and alloy) and 17-inch (alloy) wheels. The Nissan Navara is available with the options for 4×2 or a 4×4 drivetrain.

The 2011 Nissan Navara has two options for its engine; the first is generating 350 horsepower from a six-cylinder 3.0 liter engine. The other option is 2.5dCi 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 hp 450 Nm of torque. These engine variants produces enough power to ensure getting the tasks done with utility-related jobs. The new direct injection V6 turbodiesel has been developed by the Renault Nissan Alliance to deliver high levels of performance with strong economy, competitive emissions and class-leading refinement.

Although the new pickup truck will get a new bonnet, the signature front grille with the Nissan emblem will remain the same. There will also have new projector headlights and lightly restyled bumpers which were added 80mm to the length of each models. On the interiors, a new switchgear will be featured together with updated door trims, upholstery, chrome highlights and restyled dials. You will also see a new seat fabric that can bring in more comfortable atmosphere, even when running on a rugged road. Nissan Navara, or Nissan Frontier will also possess a Nissan Connect premium with a new high resolution touch screen, this depends on the model though.

The Nissan Navara was first launched at the Geneva Motor Show, along with the Nissan Pathfinder. Both are expected to be on sale on the markets of Europe in April of 2010.

Bigfoot Monster Truck

BIGFOOT® all began in the mid 1970’s. Bob Chandler, the creator of BIGFOOT® with his wife, was a construction contractor working in St. Louis, USA. Bob used his Ford 250 4X4 Pickup Truck for both work and also off road family fun at the weekends. After breaking the toughest of trucks it soon became apparent that there was nowhere close by for him to get 4X4 parts and spares. Seeing the gap in the market, Bob and his wife Marilyn started up Midwest Four Wheel Drive. The Chandler’s used their truck as a work vehicle, as well as using it for promotional purposes. They tried out new parts on the truck, and kept on making it bigger and better. It escalated so much that the truck actually became an attraction in its own right. In 1979, at the Denver car show, the Chandler’s used their truck in its first paid event. Truck pulls in arenas and stadiums were soon to follow.

Two years later in 1981 Bob changed the whole concept of Monster Trucks. Just for fun he thought he would try and drive over a couple of scrap cars. He soon duplicated his stunt in a stadium show a couple of months later. That was the birth of car crushing Monster Trucks. In 1983 BIGFOOT® (named after he was told the reason he kept on breaking parts was because of his “big foot”) began its sponsorship deal with Ford Motor Company, which still stands today. Many more BIGFOOT® monster trucks have been built since then, BIGFOOT® #17 has been built for use in the UK and Europe.

Inspired by the success of BIGFOOT®, an explosion of imitations came forth in the mid 1980’s. In America car crushing became a staple of major truck pulling and mud racing events. After many years of just car crushing, the audience in 1987 were given a more exciting show, with monster truck racing. It is a full blown sport in America today, with multiple points series taking place across the country, and millions watch it weekly on television.

The creator of BIGFOOT® soon emerged at the forefront of monster truck technology. With the use of computer aided design packages he created a new breed of monster trucks designed with racing in mind. Radical new tubular chassis along with patented cantilever-based suspensions represent the state of the art race trucks design. BIGFOOT® 8 was the first BIGFOOT® to be born out of the new impressive mold. In 1992 BIGFOOT® 8 became world champion, 1992 saw Bob and his team place 1 and 2 in the series. 1994 saw the team place 1, 2 and 3, winning 11 out of 13 races. 1995 saw teams limited to two trucks, the BIGFOOT® team took first and third, and won 10 out of 15 races.

The History of BIGFOOT 17, Europe’s BIGFOOT.

Nigel Morris, the owner of L.A. Supertrux Ltd, started building his first real Monster Truck in the autumn of 2000. This project which later was given the name Wild Child was inspired by long time friend Tim Barks, who’s own project was well under way at this time. As Wild Child neared completion, Nigel had the chance to go to America as a crew member for another friend, Joe Ellis who was going to be running his race tuned Lotus Carlton in the famous Silver State Challenge road race near Las Vegas. Nigel saw this as his chance to visit the Holy Grail of Monster Trucks, BIGFOOT®. Nigel invited Tim to help with crew duties on Joe’s car so that they could both extend their stay in the USA to include a visit to Dan Patrick, at his Samson workshop, and then on to BIGFOOT®.

Whilst visiting BIGFOOT® Bob Chandler extended an invitation for the lads to return in December for the MTRA annual conference. 2000 saw Nigel & Tim make the trip to be the first Europeans EVER to attend the MTRA conference and also the Tech School. Nigel was very proud to pass the technicians exam, and become one of a very small band of people who are qualified to carry out technical, and safety checks on Monster Trucks. The membership of the MTRA voted unanimously to set up a European division, and Nigel was elected president.

During 2001 Nigel worked to fine tune Wild Child and to get used to driving a Monster Truck at speed. Wild Child also appeared in music videos and television adverts, as well as the Granada TV series Men & Motors.

During his December MTRA visit Nigel had discussions with Bob Chandler about the prospect of bringing BIGFOOT® back to the UK, and maybe touring Europe. It was during these discussions that the idea was formed to have a BIGFOOT® permanently available to the European public. Further discussions led to the plan being finalised for Nigel and L.A. Supertrux Ltd building and operating BIGFOOT® #17 “The UK BIGFOOT®”.

That process was completed in 2003 and BIGFOOT® #17 has been wowing the UK fans ever since. With regular appearances throughout the summer competing in the EMTRC (European Monster Truck Racing Championship), BIGFOOT® #17 and Nigel Morris were proud to take the title of 2003 Pro-MT European Champion.

In the 2004 EMTRC series Nigel and BIGFOOT® #17 were only prevented from taking the title by the cancellation of the final event. Good friend and fierce racing rival Ian Batey had blown the engine of his championship leading Lil Devil monster truck in a heat race with BIGFOOT® earlier in the day. Nigel only needed to finish the event, but sadly (for Nigel anyway) the beach race was scupperd by the incoming tide! With the event cancelled Nigel and BIGFOOT® #17 remained just 35 points away from a second title.

The 2005 EMTRC series was a torrid one for the BIGFOOT® team. With a brand new 572 cu in Big Block Ford the team had high hopes for the championship. If it wasn’t for a couple of small items, who knows what might have happened. Those small items were, gearboxes we blew up 6 of them and front wheels, and we knocked 3 of these off as well. Oh and then there was this Rob Williams bloke who ran away with the championship in his rookie year. For the whole BIGFOOT® team joint third in the EMTRC table was just not good enough.

2006 saw a return to winning ways. The BIGFOOT® team had made some changes in the winter months, adding a new drag race inspired gearbox as well as custom steel steering swivels. These changes seem to have fixed the reliability issues of the 2005 season and the EMTRC title was regained in domineering fashion. Six event wins and two second places from ten events!!

2007 whitnessed the continuation of our dominance in the EMTRC racing series with more event and race wins than any other team, bringing to the BIGFOOT® #17 racing team the EMTRC title once again. This title makes us the first team ever to retain our title year on year, and the first team ever to win 3 EMTRC titles. I think we’re really back this time!!
